Best lining for ferret cage?

i just use saw dust, im a tree surgeon so its free and straw on the sleeping area, all though one of my jills just lost the only kit it had and it died

Shredded paper in the nest and wood shavings in the runs for the jill with kits.

 

Wood shavings all over for the court and hobs.

Haha might get a toilet for mine! I suppose it's choice and preference with what to use. The newspaper is working well for me Just now. Might put shaving in half the cage where they suit on top of the newspaper? That would be best of both then

i think shavings are the winner here,soak up the wet much better than anything else and easy to scoop out,but we all probably have a preference,i clean the toilet area every other day to keep things clean,and lino on the hutch floor to keep it protected will be addded very soon...

mines on fethers n sawdust in sleeping part n sawdust in the other half,both have kits and are doin fine
