Just putting on a "good" copy of windows may be woefully inedequate. If the computer freezes after a complete reinstall then it is probably a hardware fault.

 

Without knowing 100 percent that you have done evrything correctly its just speculation

might make no differance at all but have you tried all the maintenance things like defraging you files and removing all the temp internet files you will inadvertantly collect? May make no differance at all but might uncorupt something?

 

It hasnt been just today an on HL has it? only ask because I have had a b :censored: of a problem with it today, (Sat).

fpo its been doing it for about 2 weeks

Oh not just Hunting life playing up then :(

 

Mind you we had conection problems when we first moved into new rented house, all the checks with BT said line was fine ( sometimes we would be connected for 2mins sometime 2hrs they internet would really slow down and kick us off) Problems only sorted when an engineer came out. Turned out that one of our telephone boxes was leaking a bit and with the bad weather we had a few months back was causing an intermitant short?

 

If it is pc in general, then would have thought defrag might help, plus know somewhere on desktop there are power saver options, which may be set wrong? other than that not a clue :hmm:
