right. He is a bit of a guillie and a keeper and a twat! Many years ago he spent over an hour searching for livebait around us, in the woods, bivvys, fields etc. It was quite funny. He kept saying we had been reported by other anglers. Because it wasnt possible to catch so many fish in a short space, lol. We had something like 14 doubles with 4 20's in a morning.... The funny thing was they were in a livebait tube some 2oyrds off the bank... you can imagine us all snigering on the bank. This was however, before i came a law abidding angler and set up my guiding! obviously! lol.... goodluck...

Hi RFYL, pm me with your prices for single days and as to whether you have a boat or not and the lakes fished . I might be interested as would some friends i know. Cheers.

p.s good luck this week. :victory:

Well, at last i am getting back there. And cant wait. Its been a long long time, I have been up on my own since my accident but not done a guiding trip for quite a while now..

Going up on monday till thursday. Hopefully the guy will have a new PB when he returns,(never pridict angling, thats why its so good) and i will have had a few fish. Taking him to a privately owned loch where the fishing can be pretty good but he's not to bothered about numbers, more the size. So this loch is ideal.. Will hopefully get some good snaps and let you know how we get on..

Hi RFYL, just a question mate. How can you guide someone when you rarely fish the water yourself? If there is one thing you need to know to succeed in fishing is local knowledge.

Yeah Baw that is quite obvious. As it happens i do have the knowledge of the waters i guide on, other wise i wouldnt be able to offer them fish. Features dont change over the years, neither do holding areas or hotspots mate. I have taken 20lb+ fish from 12 different scottish lochs. And the ones i use i know pretty well.. When i used to use lomond a lot, i never strayed out off my boundary(an area i learn over 30 yrs, probarbly no more than a mile squared). I have had a good return off lomond, and no one has ever complained mate. some people arent scared by a big water but a lot are. They seem very daunting. And fishing them blind can be a real task..Ie: we trolled some 5 miles along loch awe without seeing a fish on the finder or indeed a like looking feature, so uniform it was quite boring, and this was all in range of the bank and a cast. Imagine driving up to this water knowing little about it, and bivving up in that area. A blank would probarbly be on the cards..

Anyway, van is packed, i'm off. Oh and tyhe barometer has changed!

Welll not a bad trip. not a good trip. lol. Had to work for the fish which were caught, in crazy conditions. From very warm high preasured weather. to wild windy cold wet conditions. It really did give us 3 seasons in 3 days. Good to be back out and the guy that came along has a new PB, and really enjoyed his time. He will be coming back for more...

hahaha... Yep. seen it much much worse. I LOVE IT! Especially when your out on your boat in a swell a mile out from the bank and you have to keep the boat head on in to the waves, as they crash over the boat and hit you full in the face... lol..

I wouldn't say the weathersbeen crazy mate, pretty much average for this time of year. Your lucky it never snowed which wouldn't be abnormal up here. I suppose when you live in scotland you get used to it and adjust. Anyhow, how did you do, any pics?

I also meant the weather isn't crazy this time of year for the fishing pal, it's the norm. We are used to it and can't adapt. No need to get all tetchy pal, I only repeated and responded to your exact words. You don't need to list months of the year when you've been here pal, when you stay here 365 days of the year, someone visiting on the odd occasion doesn't impress much. But I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to gods chosen land, it is indeed a splendid place to stay.

i lived in scotland for 12 years of my life mate... I have the most scottish name available(my father is scottish)... tetchy, lol. Its you who doesnt seem to be able to get your head around that i visit and know scotland well. It is as you say, a great place to stay, my one concern with it is that the pike dont grow big enough there, lol, if they did i dont think you could fault the landscape...

No probs, where about did you stay mate? I don't disagree that you are familiar with Scotland. If you read back I only questioned how someone can be as effective a guide as a local man. I game fish and gullies are restricted to there own river regarding knowledge nevermind country. The climate changes up here as lab says by literally the minute so local knowledge is a must in my opinion. But I suppose it will be the usual suckers that won't no any better you'll get as customers anyhow so it won't matter lol. All the gear and no idea type
