A breif guide to " dive bottles"

Diving Cylinders:~

 

They have to have a Hydraulic pressure test every 5 years.

 

They have to have a visual inspection (inside and out) every 2.5 years

 

You don't have to have them tested if you've not used the air in the required time but if out of test they will not be re-fillled by anyone untill retested,

 

Diving Cylinders, regardless of stickers ('surface use only') or whatever excuse someone wants to come out with. They are determined by the type of valve screwed in.

If it has a valve coming out of the top, like an elbow joint, with air release knob on the side and no gauge then it is a diving cylinder, capable of being used as one in that state.

Nothing will blag that and is subject to the tests above.

 

232 bar can be either fitted with 'A'-clamp or Din screw in fitting.

300 bar is only available with Din screw fitting as its too high pressure for A-clamp.

Surface Use Bottles:~

You can buy a diving bottle and get the above valve fitted to change its 'use' catagory.

If shooting as a group, all club together and buy your own compressor on ebay, you will get a good one for under a grand, remove the scrubber tower and blank it off, as this is only required to remove moisture from breathing air, no more visual and hydraulic tests and no more 4 pound air fills, you can save a fortune.

If you leave the filter tower on it is just an other expence when you need to change the scrubbers inside, I've not had a problem with my Falcon in 6 years of charging in this way, then again it has never had a visual or hydraulic test so god only knows what it is like inside the pressure chamber. also I have never seen a stirup pump with a filter , but then again I've not been looking.

hi they only come under that testing if the bottle is in breathing air colours if the bottle is a differant colour mines (blue) and states not breathing air on the bottle then the test lasts ten years and thats a fact if the bottle isin breathing air colours it will be tesed as breathing air and tested as if its been used for diving in salt water which is a differant test you dont need you dont need to send your gun away for a test on the air cyilinder or buddy bottle every five years theoben will service your buddy bottle free if its under ten years old i dont use mine for diving and dont pay the amount they charge for the breathing air test mine has a ten year test on it and states clearly on the bottle not breathing air theres nothing stopping you speying your bottle a differant colour and putting not breathing air on it make of this as you will its fact bazz41

this test will only apply if your bottle is in breathing air colours if you have a differant colour bottle(mines blue) with not breathing air on it then the test is every ten years the same as buddy bottles fitted toa number of differant air rifles if your bottle is breathing air colours then it will have to be tested as breathing air and have the full test on them as if youve used them in salt water what i have told you is true so sprey your bottle a differant colour and have a ten year test instead of five bazz41
