Do you still excercise your birds during this process?? i put my harris hawk away for the moult to easy to lose during the summer months they will find nests eat all the chicks and wont come down if they hit young rabbits they can carry them off people do fly through the moult just a bit risky in my opinion by putting them away you get a better cleaner moult just my opinion Quote Link to post

j j m 6,611 Posted January 22, 2011 Report Share Posted January 22, 2011 i put mine down beggining of march ,start again the first of august i dont belive in flying my birds through the molt i like to feed them up on a good diet and let the molt naturally,then there ready for the new season Quote Link to post
jasper65 6 Posted January 22, 2011 Report Share Posted January 22, 2011 Yep put them down to moult late Feb March time, give them a decent diet and allow them them to gain some fat reserves free from any stressful situation. you can moult them out on the bow or block! personaly I would rather expecially the more highly strung birds! give them a good clean moult in a enclosed aviary and left to their own devices until I pick them up later in the year....
