wooly 24
Had a mornings ratting yesterday, it was on farm with a large corn store the rats had dug in to a grass bank along the back of the corn bins. We used the new Rat-Attack Smoker 2 which we purchased at the Midland. I had read a couple of poor reports on the forum so was fearing the worse but was presently surprised. Admittedly it was a calm day but once the coil has warmed up and you just gently fan the oil can trigger so not to push to much oil through at a time we found it proper belched out the smoke. We had 30 plus rats with four terriers by the end of the session. Having used a chain saw for years I must say I did not miss the noise one bit, I would say the running costs must be about the same with the price of petrol and two-stroke oil, although I think it takes a bit longer to move the rats I think the positives out weigh the negatives. I would like to hear others points of view as this was our first time out with it. Quote Link to post

ferretsandhawks 47
spot on like you said, let it warm up first and just light short dabs of the trigger instead of loads of fully pressed ones, they are the mutts nutts and once you get it sussed you have got a top tool,,,cant beat it Quote Link to post
paulk73 151
iv got the mk 2 but had probs with it. only used it in sub zero temps. not im pressed to be honest.i much prefer the chainsaw smoker but like you say the noise is a factor. but i also think that the noise and the vibration help with bolting the rats. atb p.s any pics of today. rogue male 8
Was going to buy one of these but having read poor reports don't think i'll bother. How easy is it to convert a petrol strimmer/chainsaw into a smoker? Any info into making a homemade smoker would be much appreciated. Quote Link to post

Strip the bits not needed and put a radiator pipe off a car on the exhaust Edited January 3, 2011 by christian71 1 Quote Link to post
