Looking to fill a .223 slot on my ticket. Budget of around £500 - £600.

Seen a Remmy 700 sps in synthetic & stainless & a Tikka 595 synthetic with black barrel.

Both nice & tidy.

Which is the better rifle??

Or any other recommendations?

Hi, I recently bought a Tikka M590 in .223, its old but great condition and shoots great. I took a while choosing it and the advice I gained from lots of people on here and elsewhere, was that the M590 and M595 are a better gun than the tikka T3. That was enough to swing it for me to the tikka.

Just my opinion, hope it helps!

I have a 695 (long action version of the 595) and a rem 700 but vssf rather than sps. If you are not bothered about stainless I would go for the 595. If you can find a SS 595 I would definately go for that. I have heard tell that the sps steel is not 'proper' stainless and is inferior to the likes of the older vssf, which has very good steel. Both will be accurate, and do what you want them to do so it's up to you really. Don't discount the T3, which a lot of people slate but I used to have one of them too and for a factory rifle it was super accurate and quite robust.

if you decide to use the action any time for a custom build, then go for the tikka action, as its tolerances are far tighter than the remmy,

the 595 action is designed for the calibe its intended for, whereas the tikka action is one size and not near as well built to tolerances

of the older actions...

i have the 595 action which i built a semi custom on when i shot out the barrel on the tikka, if you see a 595 stainless then buy it

as even for a custom build they are still making very good moeny.

Snap.
