I have held my FAC for a little over 8 months. I initially had .22lr, .17hmr and .243. I have just had added a .22air rifle, a .20cal rifle and a .308. No problems. If you have a just cause and you are responsible with your guns, what is the problem ??? A sensible local police force also helps of course. Quote Link to post

matt_hooks 188
It may be your third renewal, but what experience do you have of deer legal calibres? You and I know that a .22 can be as dangerous as a .308, but try telling Mr firearms licencing manager, who's probably not come within 10 feet of a hunting rifle in his life, let alone fired one. The chance of being issued an open ticket for a centrefire rifle on first application is fairly miniscule I would say, unless you can prove extensive knowledge of the intended calibre and how to use it safely. I know it's a PITA, but why can you not get the two permissions checked out for CF, then you don't need to worry about an open ticket. In fact if you've got a closed ticket, then they must have been checked already or you wouldn't be able to use your FAC kit on them. Quote Link to post

Both of my permissions have been cleared for deer its just i can shoot on others just makes it simpler! as i am intent on going over the boarders also! with regards to experience!! I have been lucky enough to be a member for a few years on a large estate that has an annual cull where i use the estate rifles, and stalk with a dsc1 holder! apologies for not stating a little clearer.....ss Quote Link to post
