hey everybody ,

i live in belgium and have a question about the wire you all use to snare the bunnies ,

i have reed some of the topics here and most of you use brass wire , do you use the same snare twice ore even more ?

we here in belgium make them from a verry thin wire , normaly used for binding flowers (roses)

we make them six strand thogether , sometimes i can use a snare again but this is not often , mostly they are all thurned up and twisted . no good to use again .

do you have the same with the brass one ore are they good to use over and over again ?

Kenny I use 4 strand brass wire in summer , and 6 strand wire in winter ,

I do use the snares more than once until they do become too damaged , then it's time to replace them , Kenny have you learned to "re-tension" them ?

hi their. when a snare is all twised realy bad aslong as their is no broken strands. to get the kinks out stand on the peg with the snare closed oround your thumd then run a stick or hammer handle up and down eather side of the wire quite fast untill the kinks work out. then is should be streit. to re tension it make the loop and hold the eyelet under finger and thumb then with the other finger and thumb work them aroung the noose from ped end to eye end intill it stays the noose shape with a little spring in it. or look at woodga`s pinned thread on rabbit snareing it makes it clear.

Have not posted for a long time now, but there is a probing interest within the animal bloody rights group to out right ban the snaring of animals and I state within Wales though not as yet in England, how do we as a collective argue against this?
I can understand the argument that traps are more use than snares, but we have to invoke the use of snares when dealing with foxes in certain predicaments, or am I mistaken, please somebody tell me whether I am right or wrong, I do not want to look as though I am misguided but the latest snares do not kill but restrain the animal which is a good thing and is being responsible towards the animals well being!
We as a responsible trapping society have to abide by the rules so why are we as a responsible trapping society always covering our backsides.
Is it getting more difficult to apply our trade?.
Personally I do not use poisons so the cost of job does increase, though I do see a better job satisfaction.
At the end of the day its not all about money.
We as a collective can not allow our sheer existence to be erased like a rubber. please fight for our rights as it will not stop at snaring it will escalate towards the usual trapping and eventually shooting so if you care about our rights think first.
