Pink or stink 162
i have been shooting last few years mainly pigeon decoying. i am joining a local wildfowling club i was just wondering what is the basic equipment needed for wildfowling the shooting will be on marshes. will i need to buy different types of duck decoys a hide and camo Although I don't shoot anymore I was a keen wildfowler for 30 years. My advice is to get a quality pair of binoculars and forget all the gadgets. Identifying wildfowl is so important, if you connect with a protected species trust me, everyone will remember it including you and can bring your club into disrepute. Pair up with someone who knows what they are doing. The best wildfowlers I ever knew didn't need calls, they could call the birds in without them. I once went out on the Wash with an old fella called Sid Wright and he called birds in like they were homing pigeons, never saw anything like it since. It's the hardest but most rewarding form of shooting there is and I've done them all. I only watch the wildfowl now and last week I spend a few days on the Solway going over the old grounds of yesteryear, it was magical seeing the Pinks and I even felt the urge to have a shot but it just isn't me anymore. Read some books such as Tides Ending & Dark Estuary by BB; there's a lot to be gained by reading how the old boys did it. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
