niall_b73 41
ok so santa has just came early :notworthy: and left me a spool of 50lb braid as well as a selection of savage gear lures (i love santa so much). :notworthy: my question is: is there a certain way to load the braid on to the spool ?? i have read different accounts where it is said to wet it before you put it on also to first tie mono line even if just a couple of foot to the spool first (to stop the line spinning on the spool) then tie the braid to the mono ?? basically i want to know how do you load your braid to your spool.... other than that i hope to hit a very little fished water tomorrow with my mate and put these savage gear lures to the test :boogie: thanks for your help in advance and i'll let you know how i get on tomorrow niall_b73 Quote Link to post

jf1970 328
hi niall, hows the fishing going for you mate? I prefer to tie my braid directly onto the spool, once i have filled up the spool as much as i can i then feed it through the eyes of my rod and tie on a 3oz bomb weight, cast out into the water or even a field (which ever is handier) and then reel in, i find this helps to tighten the line onto the reel. cheers......john Quote Link to post
Plong 21
Either put a few turns of mono or put a wrap of tape on the spool this allows the braid to grip the spool and always load on wet. Quote Link to post
