david2363 42
My Missus bought me a nice pair of goretex lined boots for Christmas, but they are a very light tan colour, and I would prefer dark brown. Any clues on how I could darken the leather?

Foxgun Tom 75
Cheap way of doing it!! clean the leather with a rag with methylated spirit, this removes grease, oil polish etc: it also gives the new leather dye something to adhere too. Once the leather is prepared in this manner apply at least two coats of a propriety leather dye to the treated leather. final stage apply clear leather shoe cream to fix colour!! this process works best when darkining leather rather than trying to lighten it Tom
