mattydski 560
Yep, done quite a few... Its a stunning time of year to go Munro bagging..................But it not the time of year for the inexperienced to be going it alone..... You've heard the saying 'Four seasons in one day' I guarantee you it can be sunny a the bottom and Blizzards n the top... Find someone experienced and tag along... This is a useful website, and should be treated as Gospel www.mwis.org.uk There are a couple of easy ones in Glenshee... Just follow the lifts to the top of some of the hills............and your there..... It is very rewarding... Try Ben Lawers.........thats a fine starter!!
Guest arch1
Ben Lawers is a good one to start with, you park at the Visitor centre which is at about 420mts so your already a 1/4 of the way there. Go up through the fenced off plantation, take the right hand, very steep path to Beinn Ghlas (another Munro) Walk NNE along the ridge and up to Lawers. Then you can either retrace your steps back untill the path forks of right again and then come back down to the bealach between Meall Corronaich and the West side of Beinn Ghlas and back to the Visitor centre. Or carry on and bag An Stuc, Meall Garbh, and Meall Greigh then back to the A 827. 2 Cars would be good, otherwise it's a 12k slog back to the starting point. The Glennshee area is ok, but is full of Ski lifts so loses abit of isolation. I'm not an expert by any means, but if you need anymore help i'd be glad to help. Don't want to tell you how to suck eggs, but if/when you go, go prepared ATB Arch. Edited to add, Did Lawers with my 12 year old daughter in 2006, took 5 hours there and back.......And she moaned all the way. Chuffed after she'd done it though. Guest arch1
3 photos for you. 1st 2 are of An Teallach. The path over the Corrag Bhuidhe ridge, An Teallach from near Sail Laith summit. 3rd 1 is Ben Lawers path near the bealach.
