Powell93 5
Mate part-time keepers have to hold down another job to support themselves as part-timers, The reality is part/full time you will still have to commit the time to your birds they are not like other jobs where you close the doors at 5 and go home to be successful nothing else must matter but keeping your charges alive and on the estate. What experience of keepering do you currently have? if you want to come and see what I have to do in a day I am about an hour and a half from Bristol thanks for the offer, whereabouts are you? Powell93 5
My week has been arranged, I am to go to Glen Esk, Scotland, for a weeks experience, I am so looking forward to it! I leave this Saturday on the train and come back next Saturday, I have been told I will be doing a bit of everything. what should I expect? Edited October 28, 2010 by Powell93 Quote Link to post
FightTheBan 1,147
Is it on low ground or high ground? grouse you will be flat out gritting and killing things. Pheasants you will be feeding morning and night with a bit of beating/shoot organising in between. Glen esk is a crackin bit aswell, polluted with rabbits. FTB Quote Link to post
PatterJack 11
Couple of good moors up glen esk. both have pheasant shoots too. so if its one of the two big estates then you will hopefully get to see a bit of everything. Edited October 29, 2010 by PatterJack Quote Link to post
Powell93 5
I'm working on Dalhousie Estate, very prestigious so I'm told with many visits from royalty. Been here for one day now and didn't do much today but loving it already. Off out stalking tomorrow with the head keeper, should be good. and fighttheban, I see what you mean about the rabbits, drove down a road once and nothing, drove down it again not 10 minutes later and there was at least 3 bits of road-kill!! (just wish I'd brought my air rifle to pick a few off in my spare time lol) Quote Link to post
