2 lakes, 3 pike

headed off yesterday about 9:30 to a large lough that we have never fished before and got there about 10ish.

this is a large body of water that supposedly holds pike up to the 25lb mark.

so we are out on the water and take a quick scout about looking for what we think would be good spot to fish water.

i was using lures and my mate was sink & draw and dead baiting.

we tried various places, bays, reedy banks and the likes but to no avail we then trolled for ages and still nothing.

 

about 3pm we decided to hit another lough on our route home so were on the water there about 3:30

we headed to the top of the lough and the two of us had 2 dead baits out and 2 rods sink & draw. did this for an hour n a half and still nothing.

so thinking i was going to have another days blanking we were planning on packing up and going home.

most of our gear tidyed away i put on a diving lure and decided to troll the way back to the pier.

 

we set off and not long in i got a bang on my rod, switched off the engine and started to reel in, fish on

 

 

so that was the 1st pike in, things were looking up.

so i cast my lure out and turned aroun to start the boat up but before i did my rod took another hit, i had not even moved the lure !!

the pike took the lure as soon as it hit the water

 

 

 

now the funny thing about the above fish is that i would swear that it was the pike i just released !!

the 1st pike i caught had very few front bottom teeth and so did this fish. but i recon it was the same fish.....

 

anyway started the boat and off we went again and bang, straight away another pike, so this was number 3 of the day (thank god not another day of blanking).

this one was the smallest of the 3 but a fish all the same.

 

 

 

by now it was starting to get dark so we decided to call it a day and at that packed up and went home.

 

right so what i want to know is could the 1st and the second pike be the same fish ??

is it possible that when i released the 1st pike it went straight for the floating lure ??
