medic1281 5
Hi all, Got a .223 slot on my FAC that needs filling and have seen a Tikka M590 for a reasonable price and just thought i'd ask for any reviews. Not had anything to do with the tikkas to be honest but have handled this gun and feels right for me. Is there anything I really should be looking out for with these rifles or do you think i'm better off with a newer T3? Anyway, thanks for your time, ATB Phil Quote Link to post
bob.243 9,602
Grab it, far better build quality than the T3, I have one in .22-250, and it's brilliant, what I would call smiddy build. Quote Link to post

Cheers Bob, that seems like quite a vote of confidence! Been offered the bare gun, in reasonable condition recently screwcut and proofed for £389. Its with a dealer and they have said they will hold it for me for a couple of days for me to make up my mind. Thanks for your advice, its make my mind up time now!! ATB Phil Quote Link to post
bob.243 9,602
That's not a bad price Phil, the 590s & 595s are much sought after. Happy hunting. Bob. Quote Link to post
danebrewer10 6
as bob says! I have not had anything to do with them, but from reading around they are popular, especially as donor rofles for custom builds, so long as the bore is still fine then I'd go for it! Quote Link to post
medic1281 5
Thanks fellas, done some more research although can't find a great deal on the net, but think i'll go for it. :) Quote Link to post
medic1281 5
Thanks fellas, done some more research although can't find a great deal on the net, but think i'll go for it. :) Well I went for it, picked it up today and decided to splash out on a new Schmidt Bender 8x56 to go on top of it too!! Really pleased with it so far, although still need to get it set up properly. On nights this week so it'll be the weekend before I get it under the lamp. Just need to save some pennies for a mod. Any recommendations on which mod to go for? Quote Link to post
AzMaN 0
I have a wildcat on my .223 but its each to their own tbh i dont think their is much in it with moderators sound wise, just the lighter you want the more expencive they get. Quote Link to post

Best get a mod that you can strip to clean, I have a T8 which is good, but it can't be stripped so I soak it internally with WD and then blow it through to stop it rusting. ATB Bob. medic1281 5
Thanks, i'll keep you informed! Have been looking at the ASE Utra Northstar as a mod for it, most reviews are good. It is smaller than the T8 but weighs similar, but it is strippable and as you say that is a bonus! Quote Link to post
