Shud Young Coursing Dogs Be Lamped?

Recommended Posts

or well i took her lamping last night and she was bollocks lol ..she never pulled up on any hedges tho, infact when she flew into them and i lost her for a few seconds i wasn't sure if she was going to walk back out or if i was going to have to carry her back to the car ha ..she was trying far to hard tho, running flat out to get to them not expecting the rabbit to turn as quick, then when the rabbit turned she went 100yards past and then had to run as fast as she cud to get to them again lol she caught 2 tho so its better than nothing, i think this lamping will definately get her better at turning and striking and i'l just course her aswel so she knows to go through hedges :D

Keep at it mate, she wont pick it up on the first time out on the lamp... She will soon pick up antisipating the turn

Yeah thats wat im going to do, the 2 rabbits she caught were the last two, she started to slow down a bit by the end of the night n get better but il be out the weekend and trying her again :D:thumbs:

31/2 months, mine are proven at that age ready for breeding and nearly hitting retirement status :icon_eek:

Thought that myself mate, if they ain't providing by 3 and a half days..... they're a gonna......

I have never heard so much shit in all my loife 31/2 months you people now about dogs or what running a dog at that age damages the development of the organs for running and stamina(Heart and Lungs)i promise you running a dog from this age will not result in a good coursing lamping or walking dog.

i've never heard in 25 years of working dogs where a pup's heart and lungs were damaged as a result of showing them the lamp at that age. obviously malc1 means a couple of slips with lots of praise for the chase was the intention for the night. do you think he would run the pup into the ground then a carry home over the shoulder? get real! my pups caught their first rabbit under a hedge within 2 weeks and never looked back. at the time, when those dogs reached maturity there was nothing in my locality to touch them, fact. if you have experienced a dog or a friends dog with "heart and lung problems", it was either hereditary or was an excuse for a poor performing dog bred out of shite. take your pick lol

well said i think too much of my dog to run him into the ground and he has been bred by a very good lurcher man i dont go out with my dog for for numbers but to watch him work starting him young has made him very agile and wise he knows all about barbedwire and he will fetch rabbits out of hedges no propblems at all he is also pretty good on the simulated courseing as i said hes had reserve puppy in stright raceing and reached the semis at 12months old and beat some dam good dogs to get there so does that sound like a dog thats f****d up thanks for backing me up alb malc
