scothunter 12,609 Posted August 24, 2010 Author Report Share Posted August 24, 2010 I've worked in the pits, they are in for a real tough time , I wish them well and hope they get out sooner rather than later,when you've worked down there it's got to be your worst nightmare. any ideas why there estimating 4 months to get them out? I think its because thats how long it will take to drill 1/2 a mile down,its the only way,if they tried to gain access from the original way in whats to say it wouldnt collapse again,already proven how unstable it is in the first place by collapsing. danman 27 Posted August 24, 2010 Report Share Posted August 24, 2010 I feel phsiycally sick watching it as a lot like me who have worked in the bowels of the earth will have an inclination of how it must be i only witnessed one realy bad roof fall in wich i mate miraculously avoided getting killed an incident that happend 26 years ago but i can still remember as if it was yesterday and would be a liar if i said i never had nighmares about it after.I am not religiouse but i hope and prey them chilean miners come through it. what pit did you work at? gonetoearth 5,144 Posted August 24, 2010 Report Share Posted August 24, 2010 Theres a lot of ex welsh , Cornish, miners , engineers in south America there mining techniques are based on are's to a degree but their hse is not Ive done a bit of tunneling work and had the shit scared out of me by the miners using explosives , can only wish them lads a speedy rescue they have trodden the path many lads in this country did and i take me hat of to them .
