MOO 730
got up at 3 in the morning yesterday to catch first light for our last date on our syndicate water ....There were plenty of fish showing right through the junction pool as daylight came in but with bright sunshine ,low water and the air pressure dropping conditions were not ideal but the early bird gets the worm and you need to be in it to win it as they say ...I covered fish but they were not taking then at 07;30 I got a 3lb grilse on a small tube took a quick pic and was returned to carry on its journey ...fished through till the afternoon helped by a bottle of whisky then went and walked and fed the hounds ....came back at 5 and no one had caught anything ...so it was time to change tactics and another few bottles of whisky between the group I put a big muddler mouse fly one made from shaped deers hair and stripped it across the pool 3rd cast and I lost a double figure fish that tail walked right across the pool but snapped the wee treble on the tail of the flee .....5 mins later lost another fish .....then another 5 mins later with everyone watching as they could believe I was getting strikes with this fly I hooked and landed a nice 6lb grilse that gave a very good account for itself in the fast water and the 10' rod Quote Link to post
