Yokel Matt 918
Busy renovating the new pad at the moment which, luckily, backs onto open fields currently laid to wheat and recently cut barly. The pigeons have been murdering it but, having got permission to shoot them, haven't had the time to have a go at them - I've heard plenty of bangs from other lads who have given the a fair hammering by the sound of it. I was supposed to be doing diy all day but the Mrs announced she was nipping out (3 hours!) to get her hair cut and I saw a window of opportuning I was only nipping out for 2 hours so had not time to mess about - I left the netting & floaters behind and grabbed a dozen shell decoys & hopped over the fence. I was hoping to squat in the hedge but it turned out to be a deep ditch fringed with nettles. The breeze was right to left I arranged the decoys sideways 'comma' shape, flattened the nettles and jumped in the ditch. I had only taken a belt of ammo (plus a few in the pocket)so picked my shots and resisted the hasty second barrel that I normally have a bad habbit of using. They were either casual right to left shots or high birds that came screaming, fully committed, wings tucked in into the pattern. I picked up 20 and another 3 were dead in the standing wheat on the other side on the hedge so a productive couple of hours. Looking forward to spending a day there but I'll take more than a belt with me Edited August 8, 2010 by Local Quote Link to post
