SeanTheHawker 0
Rolf weighed in at 1lb 5.7 oz, so headed out to the hunting ground. arrived at around 10 oclock and made my way. was blowing a gale and i knew it was gonna be tough. any slips i had, i had to make sure they where downwind. alone the lane near teh first field i beat a few bushes, of which i got one flight, but rolf didnt get it before it reached cover, only about 20 feet away. so headed into the first field, with love hanging by his jesses in the air. first set was empty, which was unusual, but the second produced a rabbit, i was sheild rolf from the wind and we both didnt see it till the last minute . got rolf back to the fist. then he slipped of the fist with a bit of wind, and was a field away. eventually got him back to the fist, and starting to hear squealing at a hole, quickly ran down and managed to grab the rabbit, necked it and got the ferret out, that saved me a dig lol. headed on down the field to another little groundset, it produced one rabbit, which rolf didnt get a foot to, but got blown of like a kite again. wasnt looking good at all. then the next set was emoty lol. came to a little gully in the farm, the wind was comming across it now, rather that down, so at least it would give the bird a chance. ferret it, then in a minute or so, a rabbit comes out, rolf is of, but the rabbit gets about 10 feet and back down again. got rolf back up, and waited a little longer, then we had a lovely clean bolt across the gully, which rolf caught by the arse, but managed to get his footing to the head while i was running to them. dispatched it, and was thinking weather or not to feed him up, after all it was only 11 am and plenty of more sets and hours of daylight, but would the wind be sheltered in any other areas? decided to take him off it and headed back to the set, waited about 10 minutes and got the locater out, pinpointed the ferret and started to dig, got through to find the ferret on the rabbit, quickly got rolf out of the way and reached down, to which i pulled out the ferert, put him in the box, and the rabbit moved on down the set. One for another day. the next set was again in the gully, but the last set with a little shelter from the wind. put the ferret in and got in a good position. very quickly a rabbit bolted, but not the way they normally do from the set, it bolted towards the set we had already done, a good 100 yards away. rolf nailed it half way towards it, again by the rear end, due to the wind his agility wasnt the best, but thankfully again, managed to keep hold of it till i got in. dispatched it, and decided to end it at that. got back to the set, the ferret was outside waiting for me, boxed him up and went back to open the rabbit for rolf.final score, rolf 2, ferret 1 lol. while he was eating i managed to take a few pics, but batterys were low, had to turn it on and off for each picture lol.
