bob.243 9,519
6.5 x 55mm vs .308 Anyone prefer the 6.5 x 55mm over the .308. thinking about having a change Quote Link to post
clint 45
Why have a change, have both rifle what you hunt & comfert distans? Quote Link to post
HUnter_zero 58
To my mind, it's a bit like comparing an Audi to a BMW. Not a lot in it, both have dedicated followers. If you reload or shoot on the range then the .308 will win due to ex-mil ammo and the availability of second hand cases. If you are 101% dedicated stalker, then the 6.5 will win. Just my 2'p worth. John Agree with John - best bet is try them both out - what suits one person may not the next. I have 6.5 and that is basically what I did. I expect the 243 boys will be along soon to tell you both calibres are not up to much Quote Link to post

langouroux 14
Hi mate, I have a Tikka T3 lite in 6.5x55, i use 140g federal power shock ammo, a wildcat compat mod, a hawke niteeye 6.5-20 x 50 scope. Originally i had .308 on my ticket and i decided to go to the 6.5 for the following reasons: I tried a few .308's and did really like them...mainyl becuase i learnt to shoot with 6.5x55 so if it aint broke don't fix it! the 6.5x55 is a a relatively flat shoot caliber it is a great foxing and stalking rifle, it doent blow foxes to pieces and is more than capable of handle large Red Deer. the tikka action is way more slick than some rifle that cost a lot more. hope this helps. clint 45
if like smooth shoot, try 6.5 is low recoil & very nice to meat, no much damage . 308 also very good , is more recoil & better for thik skin pig. Quote Link to post
