I thought it was canny impressive how a smallish mink fought off an attack from a much bigger animal. I just think natural battles are pretty awesome. Like the footage of lions attacking an elephant and the polar bear getting it's ass kicked off a walrus on planet earth. Anyone seen the tiger killing a croc? Maybe I need to get out more! lol No one trusts me as I am a total stranger and I came on here and just randomly asked if anyone would take me ratting - just to see what it's like. I don't blame anyone for not volunteering though. I would be wary of meeting up with a total stranger too. Some one could take the piss and throw a rat at me whilst out hunting or force me into live catching! No thanks. No sir. Quote Link to post

Guest Weasel Man
if your any were near me mate ill take you out Well I am in the wearside area but got my own transport and I'm willing to travel. My mate has a black fell terrier from working stock, I reckon I should try and persuade him to have a go. Here is a very basic pic; Quote Link to post
PBurns 9
As soon as I heard Marty Stouffer's voice on this YouTube clip, I had to smile. For those of you who don't know how these nature shows are shot, the scenes like this are filmed in large enclosures (often several acres or more) with tame animals. I have seen Stouffer pair up animals that are never found in the same part of this country -- an astounding thing for someone to do in a nature show. I am not trying to knock Stouffer -- I am just saying that his shows are nature that is not always natural. These folks are on money-making production schedules and are not always sitting in blinds on the banks of the Fear River for 2 months waiting for this kind of thing to come along. As for the animals themselves, they may have been fed out of bowls their whole lives and are generally employed as sitters for photographers who can come within a stone's throw (or less) without them bolting. Much the same is going on in these American hunting shows you see on TV -- the deer and elk are often on large enclosed deer farms or on ranches where they are trained to come to a corn bucket and a bait station. It's the only way you can get an animal to stand while you approach with a fat hunter and a camera crew in tow, all the time TALKING and clanging tripods about. As for this coyote, it may never have seen a live animal in its pen before. I assure you that a large hungry coyote can kill a mink in short order if it is looking for a meal. P Quote Link to post

Guest Weasel Man
Thanks for the enlightenment Patrick. It sort of takes the edge off it a little bit when you realise it's a fake. Quote Link to post
Guest oldskool
so basically what it is, is organised baiting... i dont think i'm a fan of that sort of thing Quote Link to post
