jultaylor1972 2
For the last year I have tried unsuccessfully . Ive tried patches, chewing gum, you name it Ive tried! Has anyone tried hypnotism? I'm thinking of trying that and was wondering how good it is?
Simoman 110
Try good old will power :11: I was on 40 a day since school and tried unsuccessfully to stop several times. Got married in 2000 and decided that I would have one more ciggy then quit, and it worked....apart from a drag on one last year that made me feel sick :11:
Guest Jane Russell
A friend used a guy in Cardiff who does hypnotism. Worked a treat. I haven't seen the friend for a few years so no idea if he's still off the fags. Jane

Guest baldie
I gave over 18 month since.Tell you how i did it? Every time i looked at my little lad, i wondered how he would grow up, and how he would manage, if i died of lung cancer, at an early age. That worked for me, i,ve never touched one since. When you realise how bad you smell, your clothes and your breath, you wont smoke again. Are you using any nicotene replacements? Ive got a patch on today and so far, so good. Perhaps it is just will power? I don't know, but I'm determined this time (Again)

mad al 146
If are serious about stopping, you just will. I totally agree with Simon, it is down to willpower. I packed in about thirty five years ago, no weaning myself off them, there were no patches, chewing gum?, I wanted to hold on to my teeth for as long as possible, so I just stopped after I saw what I coughed up every morning , I found that I was eating more, but that was just a comfort thing and soon stopped. The benefits, well I'll list them for you:- Best time for the marathon......2hrs 48mins 1/2 marathon........77mins 10 mies in just under 57mins 10 kilometers in just over 33mins 5 miles in just over 27 mins 5 kilometers in 16 mins flat 1 mile in 4 mins 52 secs I've run at County and National level and when I was 45, I ran in the World Cross Country Champs for old buggers and finished 54th out of thousands. On a bike, there were two standards, I aimed for "evens" for 1 hour and 1/2 hour. This meant 20 miles in an hour and ten in a half hour. I used to do ten in just over 27 mins. The point I am trying to make is this, when I smoked, I could barely run a bath, let alone a mile!!! If you want to give up friend, you will.............Al :thumbs-up:

You've done well since you stopped!! You must be really proud of yourself, you have inspired me to stick with it. Thanks. I still haven't had one and its the afternoon!! (Which is very good for me). Thing is, I work in Health Care and really should know better!! Ive even seen the very worst effects of smoking and I still want one!! How stupid is that eh?! Hope my will power holds out... cindy 0
The reason orange juice helps is vit C works in someway to clear nicotine from the body. Don’t exactly know how Acomplia is apparently the new wonder drug, originally produced for obesity, but studies have shown that the receptors it blocks to stop overeating also make us crave nicotine/cannabis and cocaine. It also increases HDL; good cholestorel, the heart disease foundation is really pushing it. So for overweight smokers it can only be a good thing. I’m not sure if docs are prescribing it yet but the licence for it was passed last June.
Guest baldie
Keep off em pal, because in a couple of years, you wont be able to smoke in public in this country anyway. Much as i hate the government, and i hate bans, i must admit, i cant wait till it is banned in pubs.Never thought i would say that either. However, i would have liked to have seen, a smoking, and a non smoking room available, for people that do wish to smoke. They dont have the right to pollute my air, but they do have the right to smoke, so a smokers room, and bar would be the fair way .Nicotine is supposedly out of your system within 48 hours, throw the patches away, you are still poisioning your system, there is only one way....will power.
