jigsaw 11,899
Well,we met at 7.45 a.m.and headed off from my house,1/2 a mile down the road we noticed the car was overheating, needle in the temp.gauge in the red.As I just had a full service done to the car,I was less than pleased. My mate spotted the problem,no engine coolant. We went back and transferred the ferrets and gear to his car and headed for the hills again. We arrived at the farm at 10 o clock and by 1/2 10 we were set up and ready to go.I was looking forward to having a cut off of this place all week. The heavens opened with rain within an hour of starting, but we kept going. We were drenched in no tome at all.The rain and wind were relentless. The rabbits didnt dissapoint us,we had mighty action, rabbits in the field nets every few minutes. At the moment we have no dogs but we lost a half dozen that legged it straight across the field,oh for a lurcher! Well by 1 o clock we had 17 rabbits, and by 2.30 we had another 8 and I saw the pitiful figure of my hunting companion looking through a gap and with his big watery eyes pleaded,'can we feck off home now?'We were drenched to the socks, back to the car and changed the clothes,a few warm mugs of coffe and we hit the road, well believe it or not a few miles down the road the bloody rain stops, typical Irish weather.Still it was a reasonably good day.I would love to have given it a full day and see what bag of rabbits we would have achieved. The farmer called up to us during the day and exclaimed 'we were off our heads being out in that kind of weather"He wasnt far wrong, but were looking forward to next week when we tackle a low stone wall with plenty of bunnies in them.I had the camera with me but I couldnt take it out of its case, too bloody wet.Defo next week I'll take some photos. Guest Jane Russell
Once you're wet through it doesn't matter as long as you can keep reasonably warm. Rabbit pie for tea? Jane Quote Link to post
