need night vision advice

Recommended Posts

i am going to buy a night vision rifle scope for foxes but was just wondering would i be better off buying a new gen1 or a second hand gen2+ can't afford a new gen2+.but i am a bit weary about buying second hand because you don't know how long they will last.(no warranty)so was wondering what can go wrong with them and what would be the expense of repair thanks.

You would be better off with gen2 than gen1 for two reasons.

(1) Gen1 is not very good on centerfire rifles due to the recoil, the tube inside a Gen1 is like a light bulb and can go down quite easily.

(2)You would need a good Gen1 to get out past the 100 yard mark.

The way a Gen2 tube is made in very complex and would take a long time for me to type out so in easy terms its done by micro-channel plate and sealed in a resin which makes it very robust.

You might want to look at the Pulsar N550 Digital night scope.

If you need some more advice please PM me and i will give you some more advice.

Here are some photos of the Gen 1 tube and the Gen 2 tube and Gen 3 so hope you can see the difference
