Dyfed Powys Firearms Licensing

Recommended Posts

I have recently moved house ,phoned the fireams licensing office and was told i had to send in both my FAC and SGC certificates

with a covering letter with my new address and security details i did this on april 9th , 2 weeks later my FEO did the security check and everything

was ok ,

since then i have phoned the office twice and been told both times that everything was fine and my certificates were in the print que and they would be in the post , i still have not recieved them and have now been without them over 2 months ,

would it be unreasonable to involve BASC at this point ? considering my original grants both took less than a month and i am now just about out of ammunition and to be honest with the situation at the moment after Cumbria i am a bit nervous of being stopped by the police with guns in the car and only able to produce photocopies of my certificates.

what do people think ?

Definitely worth talking to the BASC firearms lot. I'm not sure about the legality, but I agree that I wouldn't fancy taking the guns out without an FAC to show!

I would say one more approach to the police, setting out what you've been told in the past, and your concerns about the time taken, then as SS says, if there's no response in reasonable time then approach BASC.

I think i will phone them one more time monday and explain my worrys and if the certificates have not arrived by the following weekend i'm going to phone BASC and take it from there .

my missus made a very valid point as in i have paid the licence fees met all the requirements and am not getting the service ive paid for and if it was anybody else rather than the police, you would not stand for it.

Thanks for all the advice
