FERRETING AT THE RACE COURSE

its been a couple of months now since i had a paying rabbit job come , but yesterday i was doing some sub contract work for a local firm . the course manager was worried about two jumps in particular where the rabbits had dug in to both ends.

basicly there was an entrance at each side of the jump so i put the 40 yard long net right round the firs jump produced 3 rabbits .

now my little bitch tara realy is coming on at this ferreting at one point the ferret was stuck with a rabbit and i was having real problems locating it as there was loads of interfearance, but geuse what tara started to mark where they were. i then turned the locator down and sure enough she was on the money.

now these jumps are made of birch that is very tightly packed and i just couldnt get my hand down and through. so we left the little jill for a short while. then Tara started marking about 3 foot up the fence and was realy trying to push her way in, so with a little help iopend a small hole. and half way up was a ledge that ran horizontaly to the ground. so poped another ferret in and then another rabbit bolted straight in to the long net. followed by the ferret. any way about 10 mins later the first ferret still hadn't moved and i still copuldnt get to her. then the dog started marking again and dived in to the small hole i had made. then amazingly she went along this ledge like terrier and feck me bolted another rabbit out the far end. to say i was gob smacked was an under statment. a miniut later the ferret came out as well.

this is the girl who works for the pestcontrol company i was subbing of this was her first time ferreting , she does all the moles on this course with traps

then we did another jump and bolted 1 straight a way.

any way we moved on and did 3 more jumps even though the dog didn't mark them and guess what , no rabbits , but when the course manager has asked you to do them , well you have to show willing

total was only 4 but the course manager was hapy as the could now proof the fences to try and stop the bunnys getting in. here is a few pics
