NOOK/ANNA 96
Just wondering what your guys opinion is on breeding? I know you shouldn't breed out of dogs that don't make the grade and have been well proven over a few seasons. But is it OK to breed to keep just 1 pup out of the litter back for yourself? I think there is to many lurchers being bred at the minute and i think this is solely for £. Some adds you read say 10+ pups for sale out of the 1 litter so obviously then they where only bred to make a few £ as not many or even any have been kept. So what you guys think? Quote Link to post

NOOK/ANNA 96
breed when you need a pup and keep what you need from the litter for yourself and a close friends That's the way we work it. Wouldn't breed a litter unless a few of the pups where spoken for before hand. Quote Link to post

fensaluki 35
I would suggest that if your bith is good enough that you are prepeared to have a litter out of her and all that goes along with it I.e Your bich out of action,The cost that goes along with rearing the pups PROPPERLY and looking after the bitch hand keeping her in top condition from conception to weaning and also risk the large vets bills that could come along with having pups then There is a good chance that the doglads that you know around you to be the right people would be very interested in your litter. You should find no need to sell many pups as if these lads are trusted lads and as good dog men as your looking for to take on your pups then if you give pups to these lads then you should always get a pup back from one of their litters when you need one in the future. This is only my opinion as it works very well for me and our select circle of dog men as we can usualy sorce a very good quality dog simply for a returned / owed favour. If your not that desperate for a pup out of your bitch then your probably best to buy a pup in As i say this works very well for us and many other groups of dogmen around although it may not suit you mate but if you do decide to go along these lines just make sure your chosen people are trustworthy and not in it for a quick pound or a free dog.
