Guest blitz
right this could put a spanner in the works.good mate of mine has been doing terrier work for a hell of lot of years and in the last month he has judged shows up and down the country.now i know a lot of lads who do some serious digging and a bit of showing in the summer, just to pass time and catch up with the crack etc.anyway my mate was judging a show and everyone he was talking to had the bees knees on end of there lead.now he said -90%of the terriers there had,nt seen a thing standing on end of lead like a iron bar not a tooth out bite mark or even scratch on nose.now he was comparing to show days in ,s and 90,s saying dogs still got straw bedding stuck to them and hardly any teeth left due to full winter grafting not just wrapped up in cotton wool ready for summer.so the nxt show he judged i went with him and he was,nt far wrong could only see handful of workers amongst them.plus more back stabbing and bickering over who,s dog won etc.all over a £2 rossette. fmwtc 12
but did your mate do the decent thing and pick a worker over the show pony even if the dog in question wasnt perfect our show i saw dogs picked out that were wrong in certain places over perfect show specimens because they looked to off worked its a working show for working dogs obviously a judge can only judge wat is infornt of him but when faced with a non working terrier and a worker he should plump for the worker every time i judged a few this yr and last and i picked workers first every time as i expect form our judges on the day

jonesy 111
Good mate of mine who done a lot of digging years ago told me a story,he was in a terrier club meeting in the back end of the seventies quite a few of the lads there were moaning about all the terrier owners who didnt do much digging but were going to shows and winning with their dogs, the chairman just said are you that bothered about a rosette, they can will all they want, but the important thing is they go to the shows and the money it raises pays for the rescues of the real grafters.
