Just got my FAC today, but what rifles should I purchase, Please can you advise???

Recommended Posts

Hiya Guys,

I have received the good news today that I have been passed for my FAC and I am in the market for a .22lr, a .17HMR and a .243.

The guns will be used on a regular basis on my local farm and my quarry are rabbits, pigeons, crows, rooks, magpies, foxes and muntjac. I have over 200 acres to hunt and need some advice on guns selections.

I have £3000 to spend on all 3 including scopes and mods.

So what rifles would you recommend ???

I have been looking at;

.22CZ American Varmint in Walnut.

.17HMR Synthetic Sako Quad.

.243 Tikka T3 Lite Varmint.(Synthetic).

What do you guys think ???

Well go for the quad in the .22 and.17 and me personnaly I would get a Sako 75 Delux in .243 ( I have this in 6.5...lovely piece of kit). Leaves plenty for the scopes. Personnal choice again. Me for the money I can,t fault the S+B 8 x 56 for the .243.

I don't have a variable which is what you may want for the Quad with the smaller pests so I can't really advise though there are plenty out there with good glass, maybe a Leupold.

If you are going synthetic consider the Howa, had one in .243 and for the money an excellent tool. Superb accuracy out the box and I felt a better action than my 700 remmy, but I'm no gunsmith.

Theres lots off good blokes on here who with their experiences will help I'm sure point you in the right direction

Have fun and don't you think this is in the wrong section BTW ?
