How so? Cropping tends to make things smaller...

There is usually an "image resize" option somewhere, depends what software you use. But don't expect to keep the image quality if you try and make a tiny pic too large.

not explaining it very well....I'll try again....if I enlarge the picture to say aroung 50% if I try to save it without doing anything it reverts back to its normal size  . If on the other hand I crop the edges it allows me to save the image  does that make sense?????

Ummm... no.

I'm guessing you mean that you're referring to zooming in on the pic on your screen? This isn't making any difference to the actual size or resolution of your pic, just how you are viewing it, just like looking at something through a magnifyng glass. The actual pixel dimensions and file size will remain the same unless you change them or crop the pic so it will always revert to the original when you zoom out again or reopen the file later.

Assuming you have a pic of a bird or whatever, and it's quite small in the pic and you want it bigger... the answer is to crop and resize the image (increase the pixel dimensions with your editing software)

This might help It tells you how to make the pics smaller, but the concept of enlarging them is much the same, but bear in mind that the more you enlarge them the more the quality will drop off...

This link goes into more detail

Hope this helps...
