dave1372 83
Headed out the other night down to one of the farms we hadn't been down to for a week or so (on the previous two occasions we hadn't even seen a fox, so we thougth we would give it a miss for a while). Anyway, we arrived at the farm and right in the field as we were pulling up to the outbuildings a fox caught the headlights and bolted as fast as it could into the woods, we never even had chance to get the lamp on it . We then headed round to the fields at the back of the farmhouse and managed to get a few bunnies with the .22lr when I picked up a coupld of sets of orange eyes that suddenly disappeared. Not wanting to spook them again I got the 22-250 out of the back and turned on the NV and I spotted a couple of foxes quite casually playing with each other. They were jumping about each other with out a care in the world, the only problem was they would not stay still and I was relishing the idea of getting two with one shot if possible.......unlikely but possible! I waited for a couple of minutes first of all but as I took my shot it missed both , one ran to the left and the other to the right. The one to the right seemed unsure what to do realising the other had gone in a different direction and hesitated for a moment not sure where the other one had gone and that is when I made sure I didn't miss. I reckon looking at the teeth this was one of last years vixens that the mother had let stay to help with this years young possibly? It was definitely a barren vixen. Quote Link to post

YOUR WORDS (I reckon looking at the teeth this was one of last years vixens that the mother had let stay to help with this years young possibly? It was definitely a barren vixen.) This is the same fox you thought was this years cub , until i told you it was last years cub who had been allowed to hang around the territory and would be helping to rear this years cubs, what i didnt say was the other fox she was playing around with, would be the Mating Dog Fox to the vixen with the cubs, and he was flirting with his Daughter... DIRTY BUGGER !!! Have a look for the DEN in the direction the 2nd fox headed, will be on a banking most likely in the woods or gully if one is nearby, Dont tell Jamie i told you this he will think you are the dogs bollocks when you find it and show him :11: Quote Link to post
