Fishing the mersey

Recommended Posts

Been sea fishing twice my mate caught a whiting on the new brighton part of the mersey on low tide last week and this week( just got home) i caught 2 codling and a small whiting at otterspool on high tide. All have been caught on lugworm.

Does anyone else fish the mersey and have any bits of advice and tips? Baits to use, where to fish this time of year how far out in certain places etc, even basics as its all completely new to me

Most of my mates are into course fishing and after 20 minutes of it im bored, so i was suprised how much ive enjoyed this. Its like catching my first rabbit, first fox, first hare, first deer all over again :tongue2: Even the other day when my mate caught and i never it just felt better than sitting at a pond catching in essence farmed fish

The dog had the whiting the codlings are going in the pan tomorrow :victory:

alright mate its not fishing very well at the moment try by customs house or jaguar house lug worm tipped with squid or mackerel if your fishing two rods try far and one nearer in if you just want whiting try hokis lures tipped with squid for better results try the tides that are coming in just as its getting dark i wouldn't fish the really big tides between 7 metre and 8 .9 metre the thorn-backs will be in the river in a few weeks glad you have the bug mate ..thumbs.gif ..john

Cheers mate. At the minute im happy to catch anything :tongue2: So are you reccomending fishing between 7 - 8.9 or below 7? Do the fish feed better of a night then?

It was when the tide was on its way in that they was caught  cheers
