Spay, jab or snipped hob?

Can anyone tell me the oldest age an un-spayed female has reached? I met a guy briefly last year when picking up a hutch who said he never brought his jills out of season and didn't have problems. I must say I was quite shocked as the first thing I was told about ferrets was that jills musn't be left in season, it was only when I got home I thought I should have asked him how long his ferrets tended to live. I would be quite interested to now as I got a new ferret last year and am now not sure what do do with her now regarding seasons, as the more I look into things the more conflicting the advice seems to get.

My first two ferrets came spayed but one came into season anyway (the vet said this can happen sometimes with ferrets if an ovary is left behind) so she always had the jill jab, the jabbed jill died in December of an aggressive tumour that came up overnight (aged 5) while the other ferret who is her sister is still fine if not very sprightly, and it's given me this feeling that is was having the jab every year that gave her cancer.

I don't want to breed my new jill so not sure what to do for the best for her, have her spayed or get a hob and have him snipped? I ask because I have heard that sometimes vasectomies are not 100% and can sometimes reverse, has anyone ever experienced this?

Thanks in advance for any advice

I had two hobs snipped about 2yrs ago, and one is still firing live rounds, so yes, either the op was not a success, or the pipes re attached

I have 13 worker ferts, plus my daughter has a pet jill, lives in house, not sure on her exact age as she came in as a rescue, but must be at least 3yrs plus, she comes in and out of season no matter what time of year, I presuming because of heating and lighting in the winter months, only ever had her jabbed once, and let her go with the good snipped hob once, but she's still fine
