Generally this is having permission (written) from a landowner/farmer to shoot on his land. The said land also needs to be rated for the type of calibre you are applying for. (This is done by the police). Being a member of a shooting club also can be good reason to own one, but i belive you have to have been at the club regulary for at least 6 months. You also need 2 referees willing to vouch for you during the application process. Your local policeforce's website will have the relevant forms on you need to apply with. Quote Link to post
