harrycatcat 31
Does anyone use sawdust on the floor of their chicken coop. Yesterday I went to the wood-yard and they had no shavings which I normally use but had a load of sawdust so I thought it would be OK in the short term. When I went to the syndicate shoot after going to the wood-yard I mentioned what had happened and a chap said that the sawdust may get into the scales on the chickens feet and get infected. Whats your opinion? I have not put it in yet just in case
iamduvern 62
Wouldn't take a chance used it once as a stop gap and it ended up in the drinkers and caused irritation around the birds beaks
DUCKWING 302
WELL MATE , THERES NOWT WRONG WITH SAWDUST , NOT THE BEDDING OF CHOICE TO A BIRD THAT FLAPS ITS WINGS BUT BETTER THAN NOTHING ...BY FAR ...... , AND AS FAR AS GETTING IN THE SCALES ..YER MATES TALKING OUT OF THE TOP OF HIS HEAD MAIN FAULT WITH SAWDUST IS AS BEEN SAID ..... GETTING IN THE DRINKERS , THOUGH I THINK IF YOU ARE GETTING THE SAWDUST FROM A SAW MILL WORKING WITH GREEN UNSEASONED WOOD AS I SUSPECT THIS WILL BE MUCH LESS OF A PROBLEM ALL THE BEST DUCKWING
