waidmann 105
anyone else having trouble getting the pigeon on to the decoys? i don't normally have any bother at all but over the last few days they do not seem to be taking any notice of my pattern at all. there are literally thousands about, some big flocks but lots of smaller ones too( big flock being to me around 500-1000 birds.small between 10 and 100).it seems to me they see other birds moving/feeding and flt straight over the pattern( normally i use around 25 flocked shells and two floaters). having noticed this we decided to combine our patterns, now a rotary,40 decoys, three floaters with cam nets on the rape to appear green. they are flying over the pattern but making little or no effort to land( not shying away, jinking).some are coming very low(4ft from the rape) and as the others fling straight over and away(the ones i didn't shoot anyway). just wondering if anyone has had the same kind of thing? noisey 1
we have but thats because theres a farm with beans in down the road. drove down to have a look and both fields were blue with pigeons but wont let anyone one. rape is patchy with snow so obviously more to go at with beans Quote Link to post
jocky 198
they cant see the decoys in the snow mate, proberly best to put a few up a tree, it is good shooting the flight lines, and when they are flying back to roost. Quote Link to post
waidmann 105
i have tryed sweeping( with a broom!!!! ) and laying out cam nets with the decoys on. floaters and rotary are also ignored. we had some on the flight lines too, all in all we can't complain at the bag but it could be more i think. i have a few full body deeks to put up the trees and will try that next yis Quote Link to post
