Well the phone rang last night and a very apologetic client made his excuse of the bad roads so him and his friend would not be coming.

 

So I rang Karl who works for me when I have 2 clients out.

 

There not coming matey.

 

Well what you doing then.

 

Well I'll go out now anyway.

 

If you can get here we'll go on mine he said.

 

Ok.

 

Pulling up at his house he soon had his stuff into my truck and we were away.

 

Arriving on the shoot a deer ran into the wood as we pulled up.

 

We couldn't get all the way up the track as a drift was as high as the bonnet *aaaa*

 

So stalking into the wood we saw a buck quite quickly and watched it a while till the unseen doe twigged us and they made a quick get away.

 

Breeze picked their wind up nearly 100 m's off

 

We then split up and Karl must have bounced 3 deer as they crossed my path but never stopped

 

We met back up and would stalk together in the next wood.

 

Half way I picked a deer up to our right.

 

Getting on the sticks I then strained through the Lecias amongst the suckers to see there were 3 deer 2 bucks and a doe.

 

They were working gently away from us about 65m's away.

 

We watched.

 

Then they began to cross the ride about 90m's off the doe was no.2

 

She was walking very slowly and presented a shot Bang she was down ( only thing is I need a new camera man as he missed it)

 

 

I stayed and gralloched it Karl carried on.

 

When he returned after seeing another 4 but not getting a shot I was bagged up and ready it was going to be a long walk

 

Well I was capped when he sent me the most direct route still a long walk but not as long.

 

He said when you hit the wood get ready if I bounce anything they may come past you.

 

Well on reaching the wood (just) 3 deer trotted past and I dropped the sack and got ready

 

They never stopped.

 

So readying myself I settled down.

 

5 minutes later another 3 trotted up and stood.

 

Bang no 2 was down.

 

 

Well by then Karl had appeared and we went to the dead deer.

 

While I discussed the events a nice buck came back off the field and never saw us till he nearly tripped over us.

 

So that was it 2 does bagged thanks again Karl to an employee but also a great friend CHEERS
