waidmann 105
you will need reasonable grounds for a shotgun(clay pigeon shooting, vermin controll etc). at the moment you stand a good chance of getting permission for pigeons( they are battering the rape).get out knocking farmers doors where you see them good luck Quote Link to post
kiteman0 2
if you go to a clay ground and have a lesson, when the inspector comes for a chat you just say you want one to do clays Quote Link to post
Blacksheep 6
You do not need land , all you have to say is , clay shooting or sporting shooting or that you intend to take up rough shooting or something , this is how i originally got my SGC Quote Link to post
Deker 3,491
A SGC is VERY different to a FAC! In principle you do not need a reason, you do not need land and you do not need to be a member of any club. In simple terms, you are allowed one and the police have to show cause why you should not have one! Life is never that simple though, fill in the application, get your cabinet and if asked, just tell them you want it for Clay work!! As long as you haven't been a naughty boy with a dodgy criminal record, or unsuitable medical history...Job Done!! Quote Link to post
HUnter_zero 58
Strictly speaking you do not need land or even prove a good reason for owning a shotgun but I guarantee you that the FEO will ask you where or what you will be shooting and if you say that you have no where to shoot (he may ask for a shooting permission slip) he will recommend that the application is not granted and rightly so, if you have no use or need for a shotgun then you should not have one. That might sound harsh, it's not meant to be, just a reality check. You can go along to most clay clubs as a guest and have ago ( Find-a-club) and have a good reason to own a shotgun!
