matt241075 12
Hi all Whats best for housing my dogs ? thats my question, easy you may think only i know that!!! Well this is how i do it at present,, my dogs sleep outside in a well built run out the way from wind and heavy stress from the elements. however during the day i let them into our house while we are in, they lay on the rugs and just do normal dog stuff (not a lot!),but if we go out like to work there go out in the run. on a night there sit in front of the fire as dogs do just sleeping nice and warm, but when we go to bed there go out and at present its -5. am i doin the right thing by letting them sleep in front of the fire and then putting them out in the freezeing cold within 5 mins????? the dogs dont moan or winge during the night but it cant be easy. im insulating the run this weekend with celotex(kingspan)just to put my mind at rest. Am i doing the right thing or not??? thanks matt

Night Hunter 109
Hi mate I kept mine outside this year as I found the central heating caused them to loose thier winter coat early last year leaving them like shivering wrecks when out, This year thier coat is thicker and they do not seem phased by the cold, they do have a weather proof run with a windproof box to sleep in and both are always kenneled together so maybe this helps ,good food and fresh water is the key and the water is checked for freezing regularly throuout the day.
