The weather here is shocking - snow and ice everywhere! As usual I have been putting food out for the birds - seed mix, peanuts, fat balls, old cheese and scraps etc. There are still lots of birds in the garden but they don't seem to be eating the food I put out - my neighbour throws out stale bread for them, they seem to be choosing this over the food in my garden. In this extreme weather I am really considering starting to put out bread for them, something I never do because I always thought it was not as nutritious for them, but in this cold weather it might help to keep them going? Is anyone elsse finding this?

Nope - my feeders are covered this morning, even saw the Bull Finch who I only get to see about once a year. I would stick to your guns with your other food, but maybe just include some brown bread in your selection....

Remember to provide a water source for them too... I've been defrosting and refilling my bird bath nearly every day for about 2 weeks now!!
