danebrewer10 6
Hi all, I was just wondering, as I suspect you guys are probably better connected than me, is there any likelihood of the laws being changed in England to allow the use of .22CF for roe deer? Cheers DB Edited January 4, 2010 by danebrewer10 Quote Link to post
Dan_Smiff 2
I asked this question about a year ago and the general answer was that that nothing is likely to happen soon. I now have a 243 for fox & deer Quote Link to post
john robbo 30
well with correct bullet choice they are fine. but its only a couple of years ago they were refused for roe in england think nothing will change soon. Quote Link to post
dicehorn 38
Well I will probably be shot down for saying this but when the law was changed regarding this, I was happy to learn that there was no change with regard to roe deer - 3600 fps at 50 yds on a roe is just going to make a mess on these little chaps. Also I never agreed with the extended season for deer - bad enough taking out well developed unborn young in the gralloch in late February let alone a month later. In March if I have to, I will only shoot last years calves which to me is somewhat counter productive anyway. Quote Link to post
Squirrel_Basher 17,102
Personally,i'm in full agreement with the new laws and seasons .Too many deer for the good of the national herd and the smaller species can now be shot with a .22 centrefire ,well .222 and up.Shot roe with the .222 and no excesive damage ? The .222 does not damage the carcass of a roe badly at all with a 50gr softpoint I have seen many shot this way in Scotland It is all down to bullet choice. Think of this it is possible to drive a 55gr .243 bullet fast enough for it to achieve the required ftlbs to be deer legal on all species in england I am not sure you would want to launch that into the side of a sika Quote Link to post
