Christmas present for a mate thanks to Farm Watch

Recommended Posts

Anyone who's been keeping up with the news will probably be aware that the Farm Watch sceme in Sussex has being doing overtime lately .

Before anyone says something like, "The cops should be after real criminals not bothering lads with lurchers " I'll just say that this is not what this post is about . It's not an oppertunity for a rant it is just a blooming good true story that has really made my poor mates Christmas .

A couple of months ago a friend -tree surgeon by trade - had his trailer stolen after the farm gates had been pulled off their hinges . It had a clamp and chains and was parked awkwardly but it went anyway. What made it worse was that his old and faithfull mini tractor was sitting on the trailer at the time .

Fast -forward to a few days ago when another friend -a tow-truck driver-walked into his yard and stopped dead. There before him was an array of farm and garden machinery the result of concerted police raids on premises in the area believed to be used as staging posts for stolen goods. Standing out and easily recognisable due to several non-standard features was the missing tractor. A trailer also seized by the police in the raid is awaiting identification but is might yet prove to belong to my mate as well.

Up until this point in the procedings the police were unsure if the tractor was actually a stolen item. If they had'nt employed my other mates

,s firm to shift the goods to storage they might not have traced the real owner and were chuffed to bits to be given his details .

Not as chuffed as my tree-surgeon friend who has started believing in Father Christmas again ..

Talk about lucky coincidence !
