dennned 172
i was just thinking the other night while i was in the chat room do you think, that it would be a good idea that newcomers should not be able to use the chat room, until they have made some sort of contribution to the site, as there has been a lot of "non posters" lately in the chat room who have been verbally & sexually abusing the female members , yes i know it's an open room, but does'nt it make sense to have members using the room who have regularly posted some topics, by only allowing good posters , we can in a way control the abuse, lots of the females on there can and do hold their own with abusive talk, but it's generally not fair seeing them being abused,i am as a rule quick witted , like many others on here, but knowing the members who your talking with , does make a difference as they will know your type of persona----i look forward to everyones thoughts on this----yours den Quote Link to post
irish lassie09 7
i agree with you denned i dont use it as much and havnt been in in a while but there was nothing worse than the newbies coming in talking sh*te Quote Link to post
hagar 5
If they are abusing females it that way they should get banned Quote Link to post
Guest jt750
i use the chatroom and have a bit of caic with the gays in there. Sad to say but this is how chat rooms are ...a good idea gone bad ...i don't know if an option could be enabled to ignore members so there would be no private messages seen or any chat from them if you chose to ignore a certain person Quote Link to post
Guest traceyg
Den if your talking about the incident last night i think it was a one off .As you all are aware me or other mods are always in the chat room and read history to sort out any problems. But it just happened last night i wasn't there. The chat room has got a good set of people in and runs very well with little or no text talk or sexual banter I think if you start laying down to many rules the chat room will get clicky and boring again .The offender last night got what he deserved so i personally don't see a problem Quote Link to post
Rolfe 2
Den...I agree with what you are saying but in reality it would take a permanent Mod presence in the chat room to control it effectively. The problem is, it is not just the non-posters that think it is acceptable to sexually intimidate the female members some so-called established chat-room inhabitants also think that all the females in the chat-room are fair game. As you point out, most of the girls can give as good as they get....and soon give these idiots short thrift, but they should not have to be subjected to it in the first place, banter is one thing.....but a few take it too far. From a mods perspective (and Traceyg does a fantastic job) bullying of ANY kind will not be tollerated, along with text talk, all the handbags at ten paces and cyber threats just stop the decent people from using the chatroom and if it is allowed to continue the only people left in chat will be the cyber warriors and the idiots who think they are a legend in their own lunchtime. It only takes a few bad apples to ruin the whole barrel......but hopefully these will be weeded out and removed from THL. I agree with Tracey that by and large the chatroom seems to run ok the majority of the time. Rolfe. Quote Link to post
dennned 172
fair point, rolfe, i agree you lot do an exceptional job, just thought it might have been an option, as you said a few bad apples, hope it stops for the females, they dont need it.----- den Quote Link to post
