MissRhianL 70
These last 2 days my pup of 7 months have been coughing quite a bit but last night an this morning has seemed to get worse, the only way that i can explain it is when we have a really dry cough an makes us heave but nothin is coming up. Ive been givin him cough medicine an started him on a course of antibiotics, do you think that this is kennel cough?? my older dog has the cough but cleared up in about 3-4 days an is fine now an has passed it on to the pup, hes had al his injections, if anyone could give me any help or advice would be much appreshiated. Thanks Rhian

Thanks Rhian Yes it sounds like KC, if it gos any worse i would see the vet, as KC can sometimes cause resp infections, you will need to keep the pup warm and dry, childs bennalin or manuka honey is good to give, it can take a week or two to get rid of, so i would try to keep them away from other dogs till there all clear. MissRhianL 70
Thanks for the advice, if it stays the same after a few more days ill take him down to the vet, as the older dog had a cough for 3-4 days an hes great now, so fingers crossed hes just passin the worst of it for today an start clearin up the next few days. Is it life threatenin at this stage?? I really need to read up about it.

Annmarie09 5
Sounds like kennel cough, a sort of choking but nothing coming up. I would get him to the vet anyway as the last thing you need is a permanent respiratory problem at his age. It can take a few days to a few weeks to clear up and the dog is infectious for some time so phone the vet ahead, tell them what you think it is and leave the dog in the car til he says you can bring him in so you don't infect anyone else's dog. Good luck!
