Vermin Dropper 2
Hi Guys and Gals, I have read in several posts about people using electrolites after exercise........ I'd like to hear peoples opinions on using them and where I would get it from? do you think it's worth it or would you just give water and a feed when you get home? YIS, Quote Link to post
Vermin Dropper 2
Cheers Red, I know the importance of decent post exercise "fuel" in humans, I just presumed the same would be right for the dogs. I don't know of any greyhound stores by me so I'll get myself to the local track and ask around, Cheers, Quote Link to post
Guest MOLLY
I also use recharge. get mine from... {actually ignore that, her prices have gone up and she is the same as the previous link} Much cheaper than anywhere else, get a one litre bottle for thirteen pounds. We use it during the night lamping aswell as afterwards, we have seen it bring exhausted dogs back to their feet very quickly. It also helps dogs recover quicker the next day. I keep one of those pop bottles with the tops you have to squeeze the pop into your mouth? Mix a small amount of tuna oil into it. The dogs lap it up no probs then. MOLL. Quote Link to post
witton 6
Slightly different Vermin Dropper to electrolytes but i use a supplement called CLOP,which when sprinkled over the dogs feed imo does everything thats been said so far.It is used for growing foals, pregnant mares and for horses including racehorses in excessive work.Used daily you can graft the dog almost to a standstill but it will almost certainly come out raring to go the very next day.Very inexpensive, proper good tackle.Give it a go mate you won't be disappointed.Cheers Andy. Andy where do you get it from? I want to try it mate Good hunting David Quote Link to post
Guest MOLLY
I though Clop was just a feed suppliment for horses Andy? How does that work for rehydration of dogs? Do you use it all the time or just when running them? MOLL. Quote Link to post
Guest Jane Russell
Rehydration 8 level teaspoons of sugar and 1 level teaspoon of table salt disolveded in 1 litre of water works fine. Quote Link to post
Guest MOLLY
So is it better than SA thirty seven {Fookin keyboard } MOLL. Quote Link to post
Guest MOLLY
I still like to have something with me when im out also, had a dog collapse before and its not nice. You know women..better safe than sorry, always prepared, always have a hanky in their pocket MOLL. Quote Link to post
Guest Jane Russell
It probably is in terms of replacing electrolytes as SA37 doesn't appear to contain sodium. Obviously what I have suggested doesn't contain vitamins but your dog will get those in their diet Also in order to properly absorb the salts, you need sugars and SA37 doesn't seem to have those either. Jane However, all that said, you might want to read this http://www.flyballdogs.com/electrolytes.html Quote Link to post
Guest MOLLY
Yep, food suppliments will not help with reyhdration. I think ASD means his dogs are well balanced diet wise so do not require rehydration when working as much as a dog with a poorer diet would? I swear by recharge but cannot figure out how to use the measuring system on the god damn bottle...if anyone has any tips please let me know Your link Jane, if you have ever seen the miraculous recovery a dog can make with recharge you would think differently. Ive also tried working them without it before, during or after and i can see the differnce in the dog the next day, they are much more stiff and lethargic. MOLL. Quote Link to post
Guest MOLLY
Bloody annoying isnt it, it sticks at 60mls all the time. MOLL. Quote Link to post
Cupid Stunt 18
I swear by recharge but cannot figure out how to use the measuring system on the god damn bottle...if anyone has any tips please let me know MOLL. Just make sure the reservoir is empty & squeeze the bottle until it fills to the level you require then unscrew the cap & pour, the air lock in the tube stops anymore coming out. Quote Link to post
