Well another day on my permission. Well my mate came with as usual and his missus came along (extra pair of hands).

Went to a burrow we did last week netted up all the holes (or so I thought)put my jill down and waited, couple of min went by and bang bloody rabbit pops out of a big pile of leaves and scarpers. Went over and netted that up and carried on waiting. Every now and then my jill pops her head up but nothing comes out. Waited about half an hour and decided no one was home.

So pick everything up and walk over to a burrow we saw last week but ran out of time to have a go on. Netted up, jill down and waited, now again my jill popped her head out of most of the holes and went straight back down again. After about half an hour she popped out, so decided to give my other jill a go. Same thing head pops out goes back in nothing at home???? So pick everything up again and try a burrow by a chestnut tree. Now all these burrow are between 6-9 holes (got one on the permission that has approx 20 holes spread over a large hill, I have left that one well alone for the moment as Im a begginer, and I think its too big for two of us to do??? )

So my jill goes in and off we go. About 10 min goes by and I can hear a hollow thud of a rabbit stomping the floor, my mate said he saw a rabbit in the entrance of one of the holes when I spoke to him after, and the bugger just stared at him, (Another lesson learnt try and keep out of direct sight of the holes  )After about 25 min pull the finder out and hear my jills about 4" down and doesn't appear to be moving. So I gave her a shout (She does tend to come when called) but nothing. So out comes the spade and dig dig dig. After the first three spade fulls the little sod pops her head up out of the hole next to me and gives me that look of "What now I was busy!" So I scoop her up, and all her front nails have rabbit fur on them, so Im guessing she had a rabbit cornered. Decided to carry on digging to see if I could find the rabbit but nothing in the tunnel when I broke through  , so after 6 hrs on site decided to call it a day.

Even though we didn't catch anything I found I had a really good day out, and am pleased to be learninig things as I go along. I cant wait to get back out again and see what else turns up. Hope I haven't bored you all to death just thought I'd share an enjoyable day with you all ATB Rob :bye:
