wabbit slayer 16
Decided to go ferreting today as I have been house bound for about 4 weeks . Anyway its only the second time I have taken my ferrets out, and only the second time I have been ferreting in the last two or so years. (Gave up hunting for a while) So I arrived at the farm and set my nets out on the banking of a pond, with nets down I entered my Hob  into the first hole that is. Time passed and it became apparent he had a wabbit backed up in the burrow so it was time for me to start digging not had much experience at digging but managed ok Anyway out popped my ferret I reached in and pulled a slightly mangled wabbit from the hole. Anyway I gave its neck a pull and threw him onto the bank, and went to check if any more wabbits were down bellow. When all of a sudden the wabbit jumped up and ran off Yep in my rush I had not pulled its neck correctly :stupid: :wankerzo4: I felt so bad For the poor wabbit who must have suffered. Pulled loads of wabbits necks and never done this before I Try and pride myself in quick clean kill whether I'm ferreting or shooting. Oh well whats done is done and tomorrows another day. Try chinning the next rabbit, one hand firmly around the back of the neck and the other under its chin.Push the chin up untill you feel the neck go loose.Done right it is a very quick dispatch and can be done while the rabbit is still in the net. Fat-Ferret 857
I took a rabbit from a purse net below a hedge recently and passed it out to my mate as I was in too awkward a place to stretch it, He thought I had already done it and walked over and set it with the rest, when It got up an done a runner! The dog bowled him over before he got away! Quote Link to post

Well said "robroy" definatly the best method of dispatch (IMHO) quick, humane & as said can be done in the net even if your in a tight spot.Chin em it never fails. ATB Quote Link to post
