Buckthorn 0
I accompanied a mate of mine out this morning with the intentions of reducing the Hind number`s on a particular piece of ground. I looked at the forecast last night and immediately decided we were in for a wet and uncomfortable morning. Out at dark this morning and on the ground before daylight. At about 8am i spotted a group of hinds a fair old distance away so we made our way towards them into the wind. We reached some decent cover to watch them from and by this time they stood feeding approximately 200 yards away and a decision was taken that one of the younger Hinds were to be taken and if possible two. We ended up with one which appeared to be a young Hind from a distance but turned out to be one of this years young Staggie`s. Quote Link to post
FOXHUNTER 5,020
I too checked the forecast last night and decided that there was a window of a couple of hours to pop out. I arrived in the dark as well and watched the dawn arrive. I spooked 2 roe which ran across the field in front of me , I was staight on the sticks following them. They stopped at the river which was in full flow due to the recent downpours. I dropped one of them on the spot and the other swam the river, I couldnt believe what I saw , the river is about 50 yards wide and in full flow . The deer was swept about 100 yards downstream before it managed to emerge on the other riverbank. Any one else seen deer swimming rivers. PS Vim mate , I never saw any munties or fallow just the humble roe Edited November 22, 2009 by FOXHUNTER Quote Link to post
